17/9/2006
i slept like a log for the whole weekend. totally mentally drained out for the past few days. our team had been sourcing for many companies for the whole week, non-stop of emailing and calling. besides, we also had to go round the school sourcing for students whom will be interested in attending workshops. although we did receive positive response from some companies, the charges were either too expensive, or there were timing clashes. it was only yesterday that we confirmed we will be conducting a hair styling workshop conducted by Backstage Hair Salon on next fri from 10.30am-12.30pm, provided we can find at least 50 students to attend the workshop. so readers, i hope you will be able to attend the session. charges will be $10 per head, including refreshments. each student will also be entitled to get a free voucher for hair cut/perm or colour or highlight/treatment for only $99! if anyone is interested, please do not hesitate to contact me. thanks!ok, next in line.... photos from my trip!
first day.. shanghai to hangzhou
upon arrival at pudong airport, i found out that my passport, together with my arrival card and baggage declaration form were all wet. damn! i had problems going thru the immigration counter due to my wet passport as the water from my water bottle spilled out during the journey. while the rest of the group had already cleared the customs, i was the last one waiting for the officer to pass me my passport. eventually, the officer passed me my passport and asked to go. phew! what a close shave.
after we came out, our tour guide lead us to the coach, and we headed straight to hangzhou. on the coach, the tour guide told us of the optional night tour package. if we took up this package, we will be out at night travelling for 5 nights out of the 6 nights which we will be in china. all i can say that she was pretty smart to quote it in 60 sing dollars, which almost fooled all of us. in fact, the optional tour package costed 300RMB in total. the condition which was tied to this package was that the whole group has to go together. if one of us refused to take up the package, it means that the whole group will not be able to go for the night tour. the tour guide was pretty smart to use this trick on us. but in the end, we still paid for the package, or else we will be stuck in the hotel after 6pm.
oh well. all of us slept like pigs on the coach. it was pretty impossible to sleep on the plane as it was very cramped.

longjin tea village..

tea plantations

i particularly enjoyed staying at the longjin tea village for the tea drink. it was raining heavily on that afternoon, but i loved the atmosphere. it was very calm and breezy. the people there were friendly as well.
the owner told us that the government built terrace houses for them, and beside their house were the tea plantations. all they had to do was to grow tea leaves and sell them to the various supermarkets, and part of the profit has to go to the government.
grocery shopping at one of the shopping centres near hotel..
