greetings from kunming!currently in office will try to upload the pics soon! i know you guys have been waiting really patiently for the photos..... but my com is not able to recognise any thumbdrive. =(
this is my third week at the resort. all i can say is that the resort is a really great place to work in, except for the food and the toilet. haha! our meals are being provided by the resort, but it just seems that i can't really get used to the food here. its either too spicy, too oily, too greasy or too salty. sometimes its a combination of both. we have clear our own dishes after eating, and sometimes they would bring buns from the restaurant down to our staff canteen as the customers aren't able to finish the buns for breakfast. well, at least this beats nothing after imagining the type of food which are being served. i didn't dare to have my breakfast at the staff canteen starting from day three onwards, after i tried their breakfast on day two. noodles were being served during breakfast, and i couldn't get used to having noodles for breakfast. besides that, the side dishes that could be added to the noodles weren't to my liking. therefore, during the weekends, i have been buying and stocking up on buns which i could buy from a nearby town during weekends. besides eating the normal dishes being served for lunch, i have been eating crossiants everyday during lunch to fill up my stomach.
weather here is getting warmer, as it is coming into spring soon. however it still can be quie cold when the wind blows especially in the morning and at night. we even have to fight for hot water for the first few days, as hot water is only available for bathing only at certain timing. once the hot water is used up, there would not be any hot water available for bathing. only icy cold water can be used. have been bathing icy cold water ever since day three, because i didn't have enough patience to wait till the hot water comes on at 8.30pm.
posted to the finance department with yingyu. the office people here are very friendly. as for our workload, we have to keep asking them to give us work to do, as there isn't much we can learn as we are only posted here for 2 months and we always do the same old things. filing, gluing and pasting of invoices. they always offer us food to eat during teabreaks, and would force us to eat! because we kept rejecting them, and they insisted that we must try. so far, we have tried bamboo sticky rice, their local dumplings and some other food. and its really delicious! we went to the strawberry farm last saturday, and we plucked lots of BIG RED juicy strawberries. haha! too bad i can't bring it back to s'pore, as strawberries can only be kept for a few days. after that we headed for lunch and we tried the famous roasted skinny duck! each table had about 3 plates, and we couldn't finish all. but nevertheless, it was really yummy! hehe. headed on to chengjiang, another city within kunming, to the beachside to play with the water boat, and also to try the famous copper pot potato rice. from the trip, we met lots of new friends, learn lots of new things, and we even made friends with the auditors whom came over from s'pore! they were staying at the resort where all the management staff stay and they even have wireless internet access from their room!
